Clearly Doctor Whooves has more important things on his mind than watching for mud puddles or bystanders he might splash. While this is a useful quality of a hero or someone who regularly saves the world, it is less desirable in a coltfriend. The marefriend is liable to get splashed or grouped into the less important category.
