I’m just saying, don’t expect it to be like FiM Pinkie. She didn’t exist before this so it’s NOT going to be like her and if anything the one from the show is the one departing from the norm.
Y U NO Guy doesn’t know that. ^__^
I just decided to pull out the shot gun when I made this rage comic for the LOLs. The MLP product line still has remnants of the previous generation (g3) in its gene pool, and I mean no disrespect to the old Ponies. After all, If it weren’t for them, there would be no FIM.
Originally, this was going to end on panel 5 with
“Pinkie Pie, Y U NO PINKIE PIE?”… But I decided the “FFUUU-” ending was about 20% cooler.
Fans of FIM want Toys based on the Show’s Characters, and not Toys based on the characters the show based its characters on *derp*. Little Girls and Bronies alike will flock to the stores to buy them.
Right now I’m scouring thrift stores and flea markets for the McDonald’s versions. Despite the “Abridged” cutie marks, they’re still among the most accurate and fairly easy to obtain.
No, this came out after FiM started. You can tell because her hair is darker than her coat, instead of the other was around, like G3 Pinkie was. The thing is, Hasbro’s entertainment division has almost no contact with the merch division, with exceptions of merch asking things like, “Can you guys see if you can fit this hot air balloon into the show?”…
However, they did the ‘baby pony’ thing during G3-3.5, and it went good, so they did it with G4, aswell.
Yeah. My sister has that one, too. It’s outfit is almost exactly the same, too, so… eeyup.
She also has baby Scootaloo, which you wouldn’t be able to tell was from G3 if it weren’t for having no wings.
Lauren Faust has actually explained it: both the toy division and Hasbro at large are often forced (read: not Hasbro’s decision) to make changes to the toys in the name of “marketability”
The thing is: they’re not marketing to bronies. They’re trying to sell the toys to little girls who probably won’t care if the doll matches the show 100%.
It’s a shame really. Lauren is a doll-maker herself, and it’s sad she doesn’t have more pull in that department.
There’s a hilarious (dry humor and sarcasm) FIM toy review video by user “meowmeowparadise” on You Tube (I won’t post a link here because I don’t know if there are rules against that here), but go find it. She says more or less what I put into the comic. As a matter of fact, she’s the reason I used Baby Pinky Pie as the final 2 panels. ^__^
Anyway, she discusses “marketability” (a la Pink Celestia) in a satirical way that you’ll all likely LOL at.
Those toys still have major G3 influence, and were likely ready for production before the animation team finalized the Pet characters for the show (which is why AppleJack’s Winona looks more off model than AppleJack).
I don’t mean literally of course, it’s a figure of speech… but just in case it gets Modded due to the k-word… “I guess Toothless alligators are not Marketable enough for girls…”
I’d release Discord for some Super Articulated, Show Accurate FIM Ponies!! (Including Derpy!)
I could see Derpy being released as a ComicCon exclusive or something. ^__^
Maybe if they do a blind-bag series II they’ll use ponies from the actual show. Heck, there are as many cutie marks in season 1 of MLP:FIM as there are Simsons characters. LOL ^_^
I will be doing a few more comics about the toys soon enough. Hopefully, you’ll like them as much as this one.
Thanks for all the high-rating votes! ^___^
And don’t forget that, while Fluttershy comes with Angel and Applejack with Winona, the playful pony version of Rarity lacks an Opal and Pinkie Pie doesn’t come with Gummy
I was browsing the toystore here in Norway to check if any of the messed toys have showed up. They have, and as I pressed the pink Celestia’s cutiemark, she started talking NORWEGIAN. Oh, the horror…
I can understand that. Imagine the frustration of Pony fans if there were as many versions of Celestial as there are Bumblebee… and ALL of them pink!
(The Horror!) ^__^
I understand they want to market to little girls. but who makes the money? the bronies (and their age group). thats the only part I dont understand. Pink celest, is pink cause it sells better. but rarity is still white. I have seen applejack with a hat too, but its not her hat and 2. doesnt fit on her head in the least. If the baby pinkie is from before, i see that. cause g3.5. they were all chibi-esque style. Not sure how that show did well.
Spike has actually been slightly increasing in size each episode, and as of recently, has been shown on all fours more often. (Like a Bulbasaur evolving into an Ivysaur)
*Researches it*
Oh yeah… I see the light pink outline/shadow now. ^__^
I’m an animator and can offer some insight:
Think of other 2D characters with a contrasting outline. Batman’s costume is Black and grey, but against a black background the outline can be blue or white. Donald Duck’s feathers are white, but can have a black or blue outline.
2D animation outline color does not necessarily equal the fill color of the object it’s outlining. So even though Celestia might have a light pink outline, it doesn’t mean that she’s actually pink.
It makes no more sense to have a Pink Celestia than a Black Donald Duck. ^__^
I just bought the Rarity/carriage toy today. I hit three different wal-marts today looking for Fluttershy, and when she was nowhere to be found I settled Rarity, my second fave.
You people do realize that the main purpose of FIM and all other past MLP shows where made to promote the toys, and not the other way around? I’m sorry to say it, but its the sad truth.
If the toys where made to cash in on the show, then yes, we all have every right to be nitpicky and complain. However, as stated, the main reason why all the MLP pony cartoons exist is a way for Hasbro to promote their products. This is why the toys are not 100% faithful to the series, and i’m honestly cool with this myself for that very reason (a white Celestia would be great though). You also have to remember these toys are aimed at little girls, not adults. HOWEVER, what I think Hasbro should do (which I know they would love to do, as I KNOW they want the money) is that they should put out a special line of high quality, collectible FIM toys for the Bronies out there (that are 100% accurate to the series of course).
I agree. Hasbro will adapt to make the most money.
The show promotes the toys, and vice versa.
Now that the show characters are well established as marketable icons, the more accurate the toys are to the show, the better recognized and the better they’ll sell.
The next batch should be pretty good. They’ll get it right within the next batch or 2.
I mean no disrespect to the MLP toy line or the previous generations.
Just poking fun at the differences from the show and its products.
I’m sure Baby Pinkie Pie will provide lots of fun for your daughter. ^__^
these toys suck really bad, they should release special Brony figures of Twilight, Fluttershy, Celestia, Derpy, Discord etc. and sell them at spencers or hot topic
Atleast that looks like Applejack. All the toys in my local sotres are far worse.
same here. I’m happy they got spike right but WTF IS UP WITH PINKIE PIE!?!?!?! LIES!!!!!!!
That Pinkie was out before FiM. It’s not supposed to be the one from the show.
Anyone heard of ebay and amazon?
No, is it edible?.
Is it a kind of fish?
I think it’s a brand of marshmallow…
Like Rarity?
Sounds like stripclubs.
Isnt Amazon a jungle? and ebay a type of cell?
I’m just saying, don’t expect it to be like FiM Pinkie. She didn’t exist before this so it’s NOT going to be like her and if anything the one from the show is the one departing from the norm.
Y U NO Guy doesn’t know that. ^__^

Seriously? I coul have sworn my sister had one of these in like 08.
Yeah. My sister has that one, too. It’s outfit is almost exactly the same, too, so… eeyup.
She also has baby Scootaloo, which you wouldn’t be able to tell was from G3 if it weren’t for having no wings.
Eeyup
Baby Pinkie Pie? She wasn’t even in any episodes. It’s a bit early for a spin-off series already.
“My Little Pony Babies”
Already said it: That doll came before FiM.
no, you’re thinking of the G3.5 Pinkie Pie. ut they also made baby toys of some FiM characters (Sweetie Belle).
I think you’re thinking of this toy. http://www.playdex.com.au/netcat_files/product_pics9/My_Little_Pony_So_Soft_Pinkie_Pie_th2.jpg
And if you type ‘so soft Pinkie Pie’ you can see the difference between the G3.5 and the G4 one.
can’t tell if knock off or original hasbro toys
Hasbro
You can tell when they are knock off’s because the toy will look good.
That’s why it’s so sad. ^___^
Lauren Faust has actually explained it: both the toy division and Hasbro at large are often forced (read: not Hasbro’s decision) to make changes to the toys in the name of “marketability”
You mean they won’t take advantage of the masses of bronies? WTF Hasbro?
NONSENSE! If they actually made resembling, cool figurines (like AJ’s hindlegs being able to buck), imagine the amount of bronies will buy it.
The thing is: they’re not marketing to bronies. They’re trying to sell the toys to little girls who probably won’t care if the doll matches the show 100%.
Yes but they’d probably make a crapton of money if they made a series of toys true to the show alongside their existing stuff.
My daughter was telling me how her new MLPs don’t match the show. She’s a bit mad, and she has some G3s, so she is their target market. I call BS.
Yeah, but then wouldn’t it make more sense to match it to the show? For example, if Celestia was white, I’d want to buy her more.
…Racist sister! *Claps hands loudly*
Why did you clap if you thought she was racist?
…AVPM…. I suppose it should have been *claps loudly above Annie’s head*
…still not getting it
Well, it’s not funny now anyway. Go watch A Very Potter Musical.
I meant white as in not pink…..because SHE ISN’T PINK!
Me too.
I mean seriously, I know CELESTIA is slightly pink (very pale pink), but the toy is bright pink.
Asbr, I am disappoint.
It’s a shame really. Lauren is a doll-maker herself, and it’s sad she doesn’t have more pull in that department.

HAHA, that’s a genius vid!
Just put this after the youtube link /watch?v=06m4M8bUe38&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
I found official My Little Pony tinned Heinz pasta… Featuring five shapes. Three of them were buildings, and one of the others was called “flutterby.”
LOLOLOL =D
k!ll it with petrusite!
anyways, G1-G3 are kinda creep.
I respect them for (other people’s) nostalgia and because you need G1-3 to get to G4….
With that said, I totally agree… CREEEEEEPEEEEEE. ^___^
The worst part is that the Applejacks with Hat that I’ve seen have the WRONG HAT!!
I know >__<
I wouldn't even mind if it were pink or something, but at least keep it the right shape for goodness sake.
Why do the FIM toys not come with the right pets? There should be a toy Gummy!
I kinda like the idea of the speedy Rainbow Dash having a pet turtle.
At least two artists have done pics of her with a pet turtle named Speedy.
TORTOISE!
Those toys still have major G3 influence, and were likely ready for production before the animation team finalized the Pet characters for the show (which is why AppleJack’s Winona looks more off model than AppleJack).
“I guess Toothless alligators are not Marketable enough for girls…”
I’d Kill for some Super Articulated, Show Accurate FIM Ponies!! (Including Derpy!)

With a pet chameleon.
Ffff, at least you guys get the toys here – we don’t have anything in the UK *facehoof*
Make you a deal:
Have the UK send us some Dr. Who toys and the US will send MLPs in return. ^___^
You have a deal. Here, have a cyberman.
I will be doing a few more comics about the toys soon enough. Hopefully, you’ll like them as much as this one.
Thanks for all the high-rating votes! ^___^

Dude, I’d go Chris Brown to get my hands on a Trollestia that speaks Norwegian!
I saw a commercial for toy Celestia, it had the white animated one, then it had the pink toy one. No one’s going to to notice that, Hasbro. *sarcasm*
Hasbro: “While we’re at it, let’s make Elmo plushes orange, Pikachu figures copper, Bumblebee transformers brown, and Darth Vader helmets grey!”
TS: “It’s the perfect plan!”
One of my friends mentioned it was realllly hard for him to find a good, accurate bumblebee
I can understand that. Imagine the frustration of Pony fans if there were as many versions of Celestial as there are Bumblebee… and ALL of them pink!
(The Horror!) ^__^
I noticed it…
I was in the first few secs like
0.o
I was expeting an accurate celestia
And then I was like
WHAT THE HAY?!
it’s hot pink -_-
This is missing one very important one.
BLIND BAG FLUTTERSHY! Y U SO RAINBOW DASH?!
I agree… Lazy mold-recycling with pallet swap.
Hasbro Y U So Lazy? @ n @
LOL They’ll figure it out soon enough.
Don’t forget: Luna, Y U SO LAVENDER!?
I bought that rainbow dash toy today!!
I’ve wanted an Applebloom figure ever since the “d’aaaaawwwww” moment in the first episode:
“Aren’t you gonna stay for brunch?” /@ n @\
Made in China

Complain about ALL the MLP merchandise!
THIS
OMFG THANK YOU!!
You are welcome. ^___^

Yeah, I have the pre show launch calender hanging on my wall with no-hat Applejack and everyone has really pointy noses. ^__^
Actually… we have that Pinkie Pie in my house. I bought it for my daughter. She’s 17 months old and ADORES it.
So… it may not appeal to bronies, but it does get little ones into the awesomeness of ponies.
I mean no disrespect to the MLP toy line or the previous generations.
Just poking fun at the differences from the show and its products.

IKR
You REALLY need to be willing to put out some effort if you want a set of show accurate characters, ESPECIALLY Celestia and Fluttershy…
HASBRO
Y U NO REALIZE WHAT AN ENORMOUS CHANCE AT MAKING MONEY YOU HAVE IF YOU SUCK IT UP AND MAKE SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE THE SHOW???
I love that Applejack figurine!!! I have one
But Celestia being pink freaks me out!!
BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE PONY GODS! BRUN THESE HERETICS NOW!
